The Herald Obit was great. Judge Fay was the last surviving member of the original owners of the Miami Dolphins. How cool is that? The story of him overruling a Huck ruling in the nicest way possible reminds us there was a time the law was practiced in a civilized manner without all the nasty comments and meanness that permeates a certain local state court blog for example. Judge Fay was from an era where Judges and lawyers considered themselves colleagues in a joint effort for justice.
Actually he wasn’t an original owner Sara Frates, the widow of Judge Fay’s partner Bill told me the members of the firm acquired a minority interest in lieu of a fee in the divorce of one of the original limited partners.
Judge Fay, as a district judge, used to take cases in the cities which were hosting Super Bowls.
