Judges read blogs

Even Justices do:

Supreme Court justices – most recently Elena Kagan – routinely cite Bashman's blog as a must-read, and visitors to the chambers of Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. have spied How Appealing displayed on his computer screen. A federal appeals judge once chided a prosecutor in open court for not following the blog and not knowing about a case Bashman had cited.

Lazy Judges make blogs popular.

David,

Blogs serve a purpose, albiet not one as noble as a judge.

I remember when you were a young lawyer and I took you in and taught you everything you know about The Law. I have forgiven you for your shortsightedness in leaving the nest too early and think by now you appreciate that your career would be far more advanced if you had remained under my tuteledge longer.

In any event, I read your blog on occasion when I am not dispensing Justice. I recall the Blog was actually my idea. I think you wanted to call it "THE" Southern District of Florida Blog and much like Sean Parker I suggested you drop the "The."

How Appalling would be a lot better if he dropped the programming notes.

I'm a fan of how appealing but he's gotten lazy. He posts much less, and in his desire to be first to post SC announcements or other big cases he always just posts a link without even a brief mention of what actually happened. How hard is it to put a one sentence summary of a decision with your link so readers can decide whether to click on it or not?

FYI

Programming note: In connection with an appeal that I'm scheduled to argue on Tuesday of next week, I will be meeting with co-counsel this morning for an oral argument prep session. Additional posts will appear here this afternoon.

Why don't you start your own blog? You should check out the Kosher Meatball if you want to see lively posts.
