Year-End Report from Justice Roberts

By John R. Byrne

Happy New Year, everybody. Justice Roberts issued his year-end report (excerpted below). He covers how changes in technology have affected the work of the courts, covering the typewriter, the computer, and artificial intelligence. No mention of the sea change brought on by the transition from Word Perfect to Word!

Replaced? Rookie mistake. MS Word is not bad for a heavily marketed (cough- antitrust) knock-off with bugs, a big price tag, and fewer features, most of which are clunky to use. WordPerfect was designed for use by people who think like a lawyer. Looking back, at what point in your career did you conclude Word replaced it? Helpful tip: MS Word actually replaced WordStar!

The funniest part of this is that his report was totally generated by ChatGPT

Wait a second, there are lawyers who don't use WordPerfect?
