Judge Jordan to be confirmed Monday?

There's a very good chance of that according to Glenn Sugameli, who has been all over the judicial appointment process.  Here's the Senate Floor Schedule for Monday:
Following morning business, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to consider Calendar #437, the nomination of Adalberto Jose Jordan, of Florida, to be United States Circuit Judge for the 11th Circuit with one hour of debate equally divided and controlled between Senators Leahy and Grassley or their designees .
 Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Meantime, tonight was the big Federal Bar gala at the Hyatt.  It was packed with judges and lawyers.  Brett Barfield has done an unbelievable job as president of the organization.  Even the food was better tonight.  I think I had 8 of those mini-beef tacos.

Less than two months from nomination to hearing, and four more months from hearing to confirmation? JUDICIAL NOMINATION OBSTRUCTION CRISIS.

11:57 -- the crisis comes in when you have so many vacancies open that are unfilled in part FOR NO GOOD REASON other than obstructionism. As an example, the avg time for a Republican appointee to the Eleventh (for all current senior or actives) was 3.27 months. That was the average, meaning several of those were less than three months. So if that was the same period for the current nominees that would be fine. Instead, just for circuit nominees, the avg for obama's has been NINE months. The only difference?? politics. That is not a way to run a railroad. Plus, since the current congress cannot accomplish anything else, what is the holdup?? politics. Combined with a slow nomination process to begin with, you have a crisis.

Best of luck to Judge Jordan in getting confirmed today. He deserves it.

And that Federal Bar reception was fabulous. Liked the cheesy artichoke nuggests too.

Brett Barfield deserves a hand for another great function for the Federal Bar.

Uhhhh.....not so fast Jordan. You need to wait for another 30 hours of debate for no good reason but OBSTRUCTION for the sake of obstruction. After all those 5 no votes you got might turn the other ones around right? If the other branches of govt worked this way there would be rioting. Instead everyone just shakes their head but nothing changes.
