"...All he has to do now is win the race and climb the fence.''
That's Roy Black's reaction after the government announced today that it would drop the final charge pending against Helio Castroneves. Jay Weaver has the details here.
The government did the right thing, as I explained before:
I would be really surprised if the feds chose to retry this one count. The sense is that Helio won the trial and was vindicated, so a retrial would look petty and vindictive. Plus, there's no reason to believe that the next jury would have any more reason to find Helio guilty after the first jury rejected almost the entire case.
Plus, now I get to post another Helio/Julianne picture.

Great pic for the post. Just wish it showed a little more T & A.
Rumor is that many suggested to the government that this case should never have been brought in the first place. instead of proceeding by administrative action, or by civil complaint, the goverment immediately pulled out its big gun and indicted criminally. i will admit it made for a great press release. more poor judgment by the USAO. looks like the government shot itself in the foot (again???). by the way, the biggest loser may not be the government, but the trial prosecutor who Roy Black ate for lunch. Word is he's heading back to Washington DC with his tail between his legs.
"Rumor" also has it that Elvis and Tupac are alive and probably living at Area 51 with the captured aliens who reside in the suburbs of Rosewll, N.M. "Word is" that is the same place where they shot the footage for the Apollo 11 "moon landing."
Ha! that's a good one 2:07. you are one clever, inventive fellow. you should have tried that same sound logic with the jury and maybe you would have gotten at least one count; all you needed was just one, and then it would have been a win. not to worry though, Washington DC in December and January can be beautiful, especially after the snow has begun to melt. good luck in the deep, dark bowels of the DOJ.
Dear 9:17 - I was not in that trial. Merely offered my observations and general opinion of rumors and the like. At least you think me clever and inventive. Last time I posted something, the next poster simply called me an "A-Hole". Guess I am getting better at this.
Most likely, I called you an a-hole...I offer no apologies but do thank you for posting a differing view. I hope you don't get moved to d.c., then you will find another local blog and there will be 4 posters left here.
Well, at least we agree on one thing - not enough people post here and the views are fairly limited. It is more interesting when there is a lot of action. Don't worry, I am not moving to D.C. or Pittsburgh or Alabama. Here for the foreseeable future, so be ready to "A" bomb as you wish.
