
On a personal note, I was assigned to his courtroom as a young AFPD and learned a great deal from him. He had a big heart and took great interest in teaching the young lawyers before him how to practice law with dignity.

RIP,Judge. He was a very honorable man who led an incredible life.
I had the privilege of sitting next to Shelby Highsmith for a month long trial in Georgia in 1978 and subsequently appearing before him in Miami many times. He set the bar for class and dignity. RIP.
