Jay Weaver covers it here:
Sonia Sotomayor may be a household name, but her storied legal career stems largely from feeling comfortable in her own skin. “You have to be true to yourself,” Sotomayor, the nation’s first Hispanic justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, told more than 200 people Tuesday evening during a chat with Knight Foundation President and CEO Maribel Pérez Wadsworth at the Miami Dade College campus in Little Havana.
“I have never denied my culture or hidden my love for my Spanish roots,” Sotomayor said, highlighting her love for family, salsa and roasted pork. “All of these things are important to me and I take pride in them.”

Empty talk. Right out of the Kamala Harris word salad book of rhetoric. A sitting Justice should take the opportunity to educate the public about the role of the court and discuss some of her recent rulings. Saying you need to be "true to yourself" is meaningless drivel. She should follow the example of Scalia and Breyer who held joint public appearances and delved deeply into their philosophical differences while avoiding wordy claptrap phrases.
Weird. Supreme Court Justices can talk about whatever they want. They certainly don't care what you think.
" . . .but her storied legal career stems largely from feeling comfortable in her own skin." Think about the absurdity of that statement. Sotomayor is an affirmative action/DEI justice and everyone knows it. An intellectual non-entity. So instead of pointing to some profound and well reasoned opinion she has published or treatise she has written, the elitists try to justifiy her lack of intellectual heft by saying she is "comfortable in her own skin." What a way to be remembered!!!!
Strange that she was initially put on the federal bench by Bush, no?
People over-use exclamation points for that same reason, friend. You need to calm down; not good for the heart. It's just a talk about her heritage.
Writes "anonymous". lmao.
To clarify an earlier comment - appointed by Bush senior, not the younger, dumber one. And confirmed unanimously in 1992. But this was all before your party was taken over by the smooth-brained.
12:32 loves talking about word salads. Not the first time we read his comments. Maybe you just need a Snickers. You’re definitely hangry.
Word salad *was* a great phrase. I used it in an appellate response brief once. Now, unfortunately, it's been fed to the hungry MAGA masses and they've regurgitated it so frequently that it's lost its charm (and meaning). Sad day.
Funny, how every non-White Democrat is described as an affirmative action/DEI hire. Is Clarence Thomas is an affirmative action/DEI Justice?
Ha! These are the questions that keep me up at night!
She also spoke to a group of high school kids at Miami Dade college that day and my daughter was one of them. She said it was amazing.
