The U

The buzz around town this morning is the documentary "The U," which played Saturday night on ESPN as part of their 30 for 30 series. I have discussed it a bit in prior posts, but I had no idea how unbelievable the movie was going to be. I had very high expectations, but the movie far exceeded anything I could have hoped for. It transported me back to the late 80s, watching UM games with friends. If you haven't seen it, make sure you do.

I am NOT a Canes fan, in fact I am a Gator. But, I thought the U show on ESPN was very interesting. I Think UM will get the best of both worlds. It will certainly help recruiting at UM, and at the same time, the current UM adminsitration and coaching staff will be able to distance themselves from the not-so-proper days.

I thought it was excellent. One could argue the film made it appear Butch Davis tore down the Orange Bowl, which might be a bit unfair.

While I learned things about Schellenberger, Johnson and Erickson I didn't know -- and gained a greater appreciation for all three -- it was great to hear about those days from the perspective of players. I liked that the director let those players own most of the film's content.

As a film, a pleasure to watch.
