Well, I've been trying not to blog this story for a bunch of reasons, but everyone is talking about this and I have received more than 20 emails from lawyers, judges, and others asking about it and why I haven't written about it (and thanks for all the tips that came in). So, for the few of you who haven't heard, there was an altercation between Bill Barzee and Benson Weintraub yesterday. I am including a passage from someone who claims to have knowledge of what happened:
"Bill Barzee was headed into the FDC yesterday when he ran into Benson Weintraub on the way out. They ran into each other in front of the tower building. Apparently words were exchanged about one of Bill's clients. Benson told Bill that he was taking over the case. He told Bill to go back to his office and write him a check. He told Bill that there was no need to go into the jail. This led to a further exchange of words...
Benson then attacked Bill, punching him twice in the face. Bill was carrying his briefcase in one hand and his jacket in the other. Bill then tried to push and kick Benson away. He put Benson in a headlock and subdued him until the Marshals came and broke it up.
Benson told others that he cold-cocked Bill because of Bill's comments."

if bill was just an innocent vicitm-- why was he arrested? i heard he made some pretty proviocative comments to benson and got right in his face.

Barzee did nothing to deserve being punched twice in the face. He did not retaliate and never hit Benson back. Clearly, Benson has a screw loose. Barzee should have kicked his ass but decided to simply subdue him to end the fiasco. To Barzee's credit, he didn't rat Benson out when the fed cops asked who started the fight. Hands down Barzee deserves a medal for showing such restraint.
What can I say -- these boneheads don't read any of my posts either.
Benson has been acting erratic lately, I hope he is ok. The guy has been through a lot and it sounds like he may be in trouble again.

2:15, have ya been living under a rock? A comment was posted on SFLs' page which turned into a tasteless joke about a 'tape.' From one joke a rumor began to circulate suggesting the reason behind the princess not wanting to show her face or not telling anyone her name is because a home made x-rated tape of the princess exists, and copies of the tape are in the hands of a group of lawyers who are posting they have viewed it. Now we-- I mean some lawyers are starting to poke fun that SFL in his spare time is a director and his leading lady is the princess. Pathetic and lame.... but SFL has yet to deny the claim he doesn't make 'movies.' As for the princess, no one can get a response out of her.

i happen to know both benson and barzee. both are good men. this whole incident was really very silly. i am sure both feel a bit ashamed. perhaps the two should shake on it and have a drink.

BTW, 7:12, I use to have sympathy on the princess in regards to the comments some lawyers are leaving about her. My sympathy has shifted from the princess to all who enjoy leaving trashy comments. It's one thing to tease but to leave and insinuate garbage.... We lawyers have a bad enough reputation as it is so why prove it to be true?

The whole incident has been blown out of proportion. Benson and Barzee must be having a good chuckle at Hooters Bayside.

I love Bill Barzee!!!! How immature for Benson (how old is he like 60) to demand money from another person. What happened to his professionalism? Most people would have responded in an offensive manner...like Bill. I’m glad Bill was able to restrain himself and not hurt Mr. Benson. There is a way of doing things, a professional way of getting things done. Mr. Benson you are not in high school. Get your own clients!!!
