Naturalization Ceremony this Friday

 By John R. Byrne

For many federal judges, presiding over naturalization ceremonies is the best (or one of the best) parts of the job. Nobody goes home unhappy. The Court is putting on a supersized one as part of the 4th of July festivities (Judge Bloom presiding). You can still RSVP at miamidade250@miamidade.gov. It's this Friday.

One of the court ceremonies I've always loved attending. Been to a few for friends. Never felt anything but tremendous pride in being an American by the end. Judge Bloom will do a great job I am sure.

Went to few ceremonies back in the day at the Miami Beach Convention Center for my wife and then her family a couple years later. Great event and usually not a dry eye in the house afterwards. At one event, they did a "roll call" of all the countries that people were originally from before becoming US citizens. Of course Cuba and Colombia got the loudest cheers.
