New District Judge on Monday?

By John R. Byrne

This is for Judge Scola's seat. Stay tuned!

Dolphins open the season this Sunday at the Colts. Don't have a good feeling at all about this season (I expect them to be very bad this year) but they should be able to beat Daniel Jones on Sunday.

Any word on the status of that ethics complaint?

I think setting the vote is your answer - it is currently floating down the Potomac, stained after being given full and careful consideration, and then flushed.

Ice arrested a defendant's family at the Federal Courthouse today. Will the Judges continue to allow this? Or will they protect their house? Will they address it at the Bench and Bar Conference? Or will they pretend there is nothing to see here? History will judge. And it will not be kind to the complicit.

Nominate, confirm, appoint. If the Senate confirms Judge Artau Monday evening, do we expect the President to sign his commission later that same night? What has the average delay between confirmation and appointment been so far for Trump II? How is the appointee informed that the commission has been signed? Is the hard-copy certificate mailed or delivered another way?

Never have heard of Artau.

The District is so much worse off with the retirement of Bob Scola. He is already missed, considering the Judges my clients are drawing and their comments about the cases. Scola knew how to separate the wheat from the chaff. i had a client once who bought a key, the feds showed up with 20 which he refused and probation tried to tag him with it. No dice with Scola. He knew BS when he saw it from his time as an ASA in state court under Janet Reno.

Scola was the best. As a former defense attorney he knew BS when he saw it. What ever happened to the bar investigation into Fleischer and Peckins?
