Congratulations to John Byrne and Courtney Cunningham

Big ups to John Byrne, the incoming president of the Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter.  It's a great organization and John is the perfect leader for it.  Courtney Cunningham had a great year as president -- thanks to him for his service.

Tonight is the big shindig for the organization at the Mayfair Hotel.  Have fun everyone!

The Southern District of Florida is home to a broad and vibrant diversity of communities. As members of the legal profession, YOU carry the responsibility to ensure that this diversity is met with equal respect, protection, and inclusion under the law.

At a time when many communities face heightened scrutiny or targeted attacks, it is imperative that YOU reaffirm YOUR commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of all individuals—without exception. YOUR duty extends to every minority group, including but not limited to Black, Jewish, Cuban, Caribbean, Latino, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and other underrepresented communities.

The integrity of the justice system depends on public trust, and that trust is strengthened when EVERYONE applies principles fairly and consistently.

Why don't YOU continue to uphold the rule of law with impartiality, ensuring that EVERY person who comes before our courts and institutions is treated with dignity, equity, and respect- NOT JUST THE RICH, THOSE APPEARING TO PASS AS WHITE, AND THOSE PRACTICING QUID PRO QUO.

The oath you took was to support the Constitution. SDFL has far too many individuals who seek proximity to power by accommodating rather than challenging inequities.
