Breaking: six candidates to be interviewed for Fort Pierce slot

There has been a lot of speculation over the fifth and final open district court seat in this District,* which is slated for Fort Pierce.  I have multiple sources confirming that there will be no JNC for this opening.  Instead, Sen. Rubio has put together a group to interview six candidates.  Rubio's group will then recommend someone for that position, and it will be up to Rubio and Scott to see if they can agree on that person to recommend to the White House.

The six candidates are:
Aileen Cannon (AUSA, Fort Pierce)
John Couriel (former AUSA, partner at Kobre Kim)
David Leibowitz (former AUSA, general counsel Braman)
Migna Sanchez-Llorens (former AFPD, state judge, Miami)
Meenu Sasser (state judge, West Palm Beach)
Michael Sherwin (AUSA, Miami)

*Raag Singhal is being vetted for the open 4th slot.

Good people on this list. The one embarrassment is Sanchez-Llorens. I am sure LG pushed for her. Who is on JNC

Tough guy. Looks like you opened an account just to leave that post. A profile in courage.

Braman (as in Norm Braman), not Brahman.

I will go out on a limb and predict that the one on the list with the strongest federalist society connections gets the nod

I wonder why there's not more AUSAs on the list.

Don't understate bramans relationship to Rubio.

Couriel the Trump hater? Didn't he say the President was so bad that he wrote in Jeb Bush for president rather than vote for Trump? I'm sure hes doing damage control but he was a Trunp hater from the start. Used to call the guy a clown and he had no chance of winning. Guess politics make strange bed fellows. Can't imagine that the President would let a guy like that get a judgeship. Then the guy from the "car guy" in Miami as Trunp put it that was trying to destroy him when he was running? They must be hoping the President has a very short memory.

The guy from "the car guy"? You clearly have never interacted with Mr. Leibowitz. He would be qualified for a judgeship on any level of the federal judiciary. He's also prince of a man. Any trial or appellate bench would be incredibly lucky to call him one of their own.

Take your unhappiness somewhere else.

This JNC is being co-chaired by the Lieutenant Governor and Manny Kadre. That is what 2 candidates have told me. Don’t know how many people on it. Last time it was fun watching Kadre, like a military general, keeping 40 big ego people on time and in check. Looks like interviews at in FP. Open to Public? Don’t think so.

I'm surprised there's not more AUSAs on the list. Sad.

I some kid who may have been president of the federalist society in this year's graduating class from UM is available. He may not be able to tell you about the magnusson moss warranty act like the "car guy"'s lawyer, but he sure hates Roe v Wade and is on record saying that Marco Rubio has the largest....hands in town.

1029 / 1055 / 326 / 912

The republicans won the election. They get to pick who they want. They will probably pick more AUSAs then a democrat would, and they will absolutely look for guidance from the federalist society, which is the biggest org for conservative lawyers in the USA.

Get over it.

If the dems won the election and picked a lot of public defenders, it would be their right. If they used the American Constitution Society to do the picking entirely, it would be their right. This is how elections work...

Instead of whining over nothing, volunteer for a dem running for president, or for a Democrat running for senate.

Whatever u do:

Get. Over. It.

When Obama was President Rubio blocked at least two nominees. So your premise is that he "got to do what he wants" is simplistic and just wrong. And of course there's Merrick Garland.

I believe in accordance to law they have to be open to the public.
