JNC accepting applications for federal judge

The JNC is now accepting applications for federal judge.  Here is the letter explaining the procedure.  There are 5 vacancies, and the JNC will be sending up 10 names.  These are all openings for Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm, and Ft. Pierce.  None of the openings are for Miami.  The applications are due October 12 and interviews will be November 28 and 29.  Here is the application form.

(Also, applications are due today for magistrate judge).

If nominated, I shall not run. If elected, I shall not serve.

It is very unusual the way that this has been handled. In the past, there have been announcements on the homepage of the various federal court websites as well as announcements on the Florida Bar website. This time, there is no announcement on the front page of any federal court website or on the Florida bar website. Instead, the announcement is buried under a link for "Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Commission." It's almost as if they don't want people to apply.

Probably going to be Dade judges who apply and then try to get back to Miami as soon as they can.
