Your friendly neighborhood blogger....

...is back from the Middle District.

Thanks to Professor Bascuas for the great posts while I was out.

I'm looking at the huge pile of mail, email, and calls that I need to wade through right now. So I will be back to post in a little bit.

In the meantime, you may want to check out this new album that came out today!

Who the hell am I supposed to be voting for anyway? Respectfully, I propose that the citizens of the state of Florida deserve better than this.

Attorney general debate scrubbed, Bondi won’t appear

by Dara Kam | September 22nd, 2010

Organizers canceled an Oct. 5 debate at the University of Florida between attorney general candidates Dan Gelber and Pam Bondi because Bondi won’t appear.

GOP hopeful Bondi, a former prosecutor from Tampa who’s never run for office before, has a “scheduling conflict” preventing her from participating in the debate hosted by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association, her campaign spokeswoman Sandi Copes said. Copes could not immediately say what Bondi had to do that trumped the debate.

State senator Gelber, a former federal prosecutor who also served as House Democratic Leader, earned a reputation as one of the legislature’s top arguers during feisty floor debates.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION THIS YEAR. PLEASE, PLEASE CONSIDER THIS RACE AND CONSIDER VOTING FOR THE MORE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE. (OR, AT LEAST THE ONE WILLING TO SHOW UP)

Let's hearken to the Buju of pre-December 2009, before his arrest. He was all about love, appreciation, and inspiration. When a woman tries to change a man, especially a Caribbean man, and vice versa, the first thing they bawl is, "I wanna be loved...". Buju encouraged us to love ourselves, and accept nothing less than royal treatment. He taught us to "walk like a champion". He made us believe we could fight oppression, and emerge victorious.

This is the Buju I love.

I'm like a woman who knows her man has done wrong, but still I refuse to disown him. It hurts to see Buju in this mess, albeit a situation he facilitated. However, I cling to his songs, which are so uplifting. I cling to the lyrics "I wanna rule my destiny", "Jah Jah put an angel over me", and "I know that the sun will come out tomorrow". And amidst the clinging, I remember how easy it is to fall.
