Politico covers SDFLA nominee Ed Artau

Here's the piece.  From the intro:

A Florida state judge was lobbying for a seat on the federal bench. After he sided with the president in a defamation case, Donald Trump gave him one.

Ed Artau, now a nominee to be a district court judge in Florida, met with staff in the office of Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott to angle for the nomination less than two weeks after Trump’s election last fall, according to a new Senate disclosure obtained by POLITICO. In the midst of his interviews, Artau was part of a panel of judges that ruled in Trump’s favor in the president’s case against members of the Pulitzer Prize Board.

About two weeks after the court published his opinion — which called for the overturning of a landmark Supreme Court case that made it harder for public officials to sue journalists — he interviewed with the White House Counsel’s Office. In May, Trump announced his nomination to the federal judiciary.

Critics raised concerns about Artau’s impartiality at the time of the announcement, in light of his ruling in the Pulitzer case. But the overlapping timeline of that decision with his meetings with Senate staff and the White House Counsel’s Office has not previously been reported.

Artau did not respond to a request for comment. In a statement, Harrison Fields, a White House spokesperson, said Trump had full confidence in his nominee and anticipated Artau’s confirmation.

The Sun-Sentinel recently raised these concerns in an editorial (that the Politico article cites above).

It seems that another Florida state court judge was auditioning for a seat on the FL 3rd DCA in a similar fashion according to The Florida Bulldog article of 3/13/25 ( "Judicial favoritism in Miami paternity case benefits Trump advisor Jason Miller
" https://www.floridabulldog.org/2025/03/judicial-favoritism-benefits-trump-advisor-jason-miller/ )

Not sure how that at all helps even if it’s true with a DeSantis state court appointment.

Well played. This seems to be the logical next step in the evolution of the process.

There will soon be an Apprentice-styled show ('who wants to be a Federal Judge!?'), and likely at some point down the road, a Survivoresq adventure on a remote plateau overlooking the Southern Boarder (bonus points for candidate able to spot the most "illegals" trying to enter...super extra bonus if you can find some transporting fentanyl (or generic Mexican made "Plan B")). Instead of Jeff Probst saying 'the tribe has spoken', you will have Preston Damsky there to say 'an originalist, you are not', as the sorry (but lucky!) loser is escorted to a reeducation camp run by Sheldon Gilbert.

FedSocCamp will feature a televised program for the lowest ranking "campers" called 'The Running Libtards" (hosted by Stephen Miller), which involves contestants having to run from large Aryan men and women. Plessy Ferguson's catchphrase ("you've been segregated') is a fan favorite. Dredd Sanford has a parade of horribles to unleash, but the worst (best) may be the Iron Sanctuary Mary (currently banned even in Idaho, but still legal in Louisiana and Texas). If Plessy and Dredd cannot finish the job, Bucks Bells (yes, that is her name) ends it by declaring that 'three libs with kids are too many!' as she breaks out her Spanish Tickler and goes to work.

meanwhile... any person of color in a high post is demeaned as a "dei hire." grosser than gum underneath counsel table... IMHO.

You forget them allowing segregated clubs....I mean schools- public for anyone that can't afford private- or in the priced out counties.... don't forget the Depts with NO BLACKS in Floriduh, that overlook the wh.yte drug dealers and choose to profile minorities... thinking noone pays attention... it REALLY pains them to put cuffs in that pale heroin popped skin....as bad it pains some federal judge to lock up a wh.yte fraudster for more than time served! Floriduh is truly Duh South!

This guy figured out that an unethical act that would have meant you were not chosen before will assure you are chosen under Scott/Trump, and he has no problem playing that game. Banana Republicans indeed.
