So you wanna be a Magistrate Judge?

Well, step right up.  Judge Barry S. Seltzer is retiring on January 3, 2020, opening up a slot in Ft. Lauderdale.

Chief Judge K. Michael Moore has selected Jon Sale to lead the Magistrate Selection Committee.  That Committee will recommend 5 applicants to the District Court for the final selection.

Although this has not been made public yet, in the near future, the application will be available on the court website and then forward it to FLSD_MagistrateJudgeRecruitment@flsd.uscourts.gov

Good luck all.

Real question is what happens to the kids admitted to college in the scandal? Do they get to remain?

Word on the street is that if you really want to be a Magistrate in the SDFL, you just have to give lots of money to this guy's fake charity, see . . .

Sorry to hear about Barry's retirement. He was always a gentleman and reasonable on bond hearings to the defendants.

I echo that about Seltzer. He was a real pro and great courtroom demeanor and very thoughtful and clients always felt he listened to their lawyers and gave them a fair hearing. He will be a tough act to follow.
