That's the defense record in Chinese importation trials. The latest was by AFPDs Sowmya Bharathi and Bunmi Lomax before Judge Seitz. There was also another January not guilty casting shade on Rumpole's "no-trials-in-January" mandate. Bottom line -- we need more trials!

Another example where Jay Weaver wrote a sensational "article" regarding the accusations, with an agent inappropriately leaking confidential information to him, and then refuses to report on the acquittal.

The above is why no judges and most lawyers in town, don't trust Weaver and won't confide in him.

To be clear, what I have consistently said is avoid trials set for the first week of January. Jurors don't want to be there. Plea offers to resolve the case are higher because prosecutors and judges have had three weeks off where they have resolved to get tougher on crime. I would be willing to bet a lot that a scientific study of sentences in January will be much much higher than sentences in November and December. The best time to try a case is the second week of December.
