R.I.P. Dad (UPDATED WITH SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION)

I really feel strange posting about my personal life on the blog, but I just wanted to take a second and thank everyone for their emails, calls and notes about my dad, Stuart Markus.  He was such a good man.  I really can't think of a person that didn't love the guy.

I also want to thank Dave Ovalle for writing this obituary, which captures a lot of great stories about him.

He was almost 60 in this picture.  60!  I wish I looked that good now.

David-
I didn't know your father but you can tell a lot about a person from what their children say about them. Judging from your comments, he was a true mentsch. My condolences.

Dearest David
I remembered the first time I met your father.
So full of life and so very proud that his son was clerking for Judge Davis. He was a true gentleman and had heart of gold. My deepest condolences.

David, I am so sorry for your loss. I have so much admiration for the way you can -- with humor, intelligence, class and dignity -- bring all of us into your inner circle with your postings on this blog. Your father is certainly very proud of you.

David: I just found out about your father's passing. He was such a charming man. He mediated many of our dissolution matters and from the start of each mediation, it was clear to the parties that you could not find a more just and able mediator. I am very sorry for your loss. He will be missed.
