Breaking -- JNC cuts list to 4

Your next two federal district judges will be from this list:

Beth Bloom, Darrin Gayles, Peter Lopez, John Thornton

Congrats!!

Interesting to note that all four are sitting state judges in Circuit Court.

Thornton and bloom.

Does it seem odd to anyone that all four candidates are from Miami-Dade County? These positions are for the Southern District of Florida, not the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Very dissatisfying list.

How does barry seltzer continually get passed over?

It really is astonishing. The fact that Broward democratic politicians are not up in arms that Broward judges/lawyers are passed up in favor of Miami state court judges is mind boggling. We in Broward should get our own committee because we will never be able to get one of our own selected this way for a Broward seat. Seltzer would have been great and would have been well deserved. So irritating.

The federal bench devolves...

It is clear that three candidates were put forward to attempt to box the White House into giving Moreno's guy the appointment. I hope the JNC is instructed to send four more names.

Is it possible to make this process more transparent? It would be nice for the public to know the factors that are being considered and the weight that is being attributed to them.

the factors to consider for appointment are -----you must be from Miami dade 20 of the 21 members of the JNC are from Miami dade
for the past ten years only miami dade applicants names have been submitted to the white house. others need not apply only qualified nominees reside in Miami. Palm Beach and other counties need not apply. this is the real southern district

While I agree with the sentiment of the last commentator regarding the almost complete rejection of anyone outside of Miami-Dade County, Judge Robin Rosenberg of Palm Beach County was one of the three finalists when Will Thomas was selected.

And don't forget that Judge Rosenbaum of Ft. Lauderdale is the most recent appointee to the Southern District bench.
