According to John Pacenti: "One other opening is pending on the 11th U.S. District Court of Appeals. Judge Susan H. Black, who served as a Middle District judge, announced in February she is taking senior status, which leaves a Florida opening. A source close to the nomination process said U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan in Miami is a front-runner. Jordan’s office would not comment on the matter."
Judge Jordan would be great for the 11th Circuit, but he would really be missed on the District bench. He's smart, patient, and gives both sides a fair trial. As the former chief of the appellate division of the U.S. Attorney's office, he easily would be confirmed.
what you said, a great pick but a shame to lose him.
ReplyDeleteCan't think of a better choice. I was always disappointed that Fred Moreno missed his chance when George Herbert Walker Bush - who nominated him- lost to Clinton. The Democrats waited out the election and nothing more happened on the nomination. Just goes to show that a lot of talented Judges miss out because of petty politics. Well, at least we got a great chief Judge.
ReplyDeleteAnd also rump pole, a lot of petty lawyers don't get appointed because well, they are state court ticket lawyers and say things in the press that demonstrate their lack of integrity, when they can't hide behind their anonymous blog.
ReplyDeleteJudge Jordan belongs on the 11th, or higher.
Why If I wasn't anonymous I would poke you in the eye like Moe does to Larry. How dare you! Ticket lawyer indeed. I'll have you know that the misdemeanors I handle are crimes! Not silly traffic infractions.
ReplyDeleteNobody "belongs" anywhere. There are a few judges (and even a few attorneys) in the S.D.Fla., aligned with both political parties, who are certainly qualified and would do a great job as a circuit judge. Judge Jordan is one of those individuals.
ReplyDeleteWill rump pole still blog if he is chosen by the Gov for judge?
