Orlando TV reported that former Orlando Chief of Police Val Demings is being tapped although Nieland was selected in the 2009 process. Whats the deal with that?
Got my hands on this sent a while back. Thought I'd share...
"After more than two years and being selected as finalist for the U.S. Marshal appointment in the Southern District of Florida, I have decided to no longer compete in the current nomination process.
I would like to thank my family, friends and colleagues as well as the Obama Administration, Senators Nelson, Martinez, LeMieux and Rubio, Congressmen M. Diaz-Balart and Rooney, Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca and the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, Department of Justice and the Florida Judicial Nominating Commission, who have supported me throughout this process.
I look forward to continuing my public service and supporting you in our future endeavours. -David "Big Country" Nieland
