Investiture of David Leibowitz

Congratulations to Judge David Leibowitz on his investiture.  It was a truly lovely event with great speakers, including Ben Greenberg, Ron Dermer, and Judge Michael Farbiarz.  Sen. Marco Rubio (pictured below with Stephanie Casey and Lindsey Lazopoulos Friedman) and his wife Jeanette were also in attendance.  Lots of great stories, including about Judge Leibowitz as the Philadelphia Eagles' mascot!

Finally an opportunity for the wealthy and well-connected to congratulate themselves for more of the same. What a relief. I was starting to worry about those guys.

If you were there and you came away thinking this comment is appropriate, then I hope you aren’t a practicing lawyer with clients because they have a moron for a lawyer. If you weren’t there but thought it necessary to make this comment about a new judge who is universally thought of as kind and humble, may all your cases be assigned to Judge Edith Jones.

"May all your cases be assigned to Judge Edith Jones" has me dead. Good work, sir or madam.

Yes, wealthy and well connected. But very hard working, dedicated, fair....and having sat through the investiture...humble and hard working...incredibly genuine. He recognized the opportunities that he was born into during the investiture, and I give him credit for that.

I know that people less connected, who grew up poor, disadvantaged, who are minority, do not have same opportunities that he did, but at the same time, I don't think he should be penalized because he was fortunate in terms of what he was born into.

I think he is going to be an excellent addition to the bench in this district. And yes, there are others I would have prefered to see get the job, but I cannot say that he did not deserve it or that he will not be great.

Agree. World would be better place if those blessed with best opportunities, who rightfully worked hard and took advantage of those opportunities so clearly acknowledged those facts. There are many worse possibilities in SDFL than Judge Leibowitz.

11:42 AM was a comment about the process, not the judge. But if you didn’t get the point, may all your cases still get a fair and impartial hearing before an excellent, thoughtful judge.
