Update -- as of 5pm on Thursday, the results are heavily skewed in favor of judge. 88 say judge, 10 say U.S. Attorney, and 3 voted about the same. Sorry about the results not popping up after you vote. I tried a new poll and it's not really that good.
President Trump decided to go with the likes of Huckabee and Gaetz.
I've also heard talk that he's being considered for U.S. Attorney. Unlike Ambassador and A.G., I'm not sure a district judge would take that slot. But maybe I'm wrong. What do you think:
How big of a sycophant must one be for Trump to make them a United States Attorney vs US DC Judge?
ReplyDeleteFajardo or Cannon??
Hubby or Daddy write the bigger check?
At least Fajardo tried to make the Office better, and didn’t have a misogynistic Executive Division.
Cannon is STILL clueless in Saint Lucia! No judicial temperament and still doesn’t know what she doesn’t know… poor thing.
US Attorney
ReplyDeleteBow out of life tenure to be an underling to (probably) Gaetz? Uff, bad look. Altman seems smarter than that. But Bronwyn Miller might be available.
ReplyDeleteI missed the part where this blog became obsessed with Altman's aspirations for higher office. It's embarrassing. I don't think the dude's ego needs to get any bigger, maybe relax on the coverage?
ReplyDeleteAlso, anyone else remember him fumbling a decision on the Governor's immigration policy that he sat on for months? I'm sure DeSantis hasn't forgot...

I voted a federal judge is more prestigious. The US Attorney is a short term political head that leads a prosecution office. They usually dont lead with a top down approach. A federal judge lasts a lifetime. The decisions the judge makes are far more reaching than a US Attorney. Let's play, rock, paper, scissors. How many times has a federal judge slam the USAO or dismiss their cases.
ReplyDeleteCase Closed
(sorry I could not resist)
i also voted the Judgeship is more prestigious, longer tenure & better promotion odds. Plenty of Cir seats available.
DeleteWhen was the last time a judge dismissed a case besides Trump’s?
Plenty of misconduct, a few people got slapped on the wrist, at the office.
He may resign and work as chief assistant for Kathy.
ReplyDeleteHeard Altman is going to be chief of staff for Elan in the Doge office reinventing government.
ReplyDeleteI have it from an excellent inside source he is resigning to host dancing with the stars and will also be groomed to replace Jeff Probst on Survivor. Fox is also developing a “Judge Roy” vehicle for afternoon TV with one night a week in prime time where he adjudicates complex federal civil disputes in the air in two hour specials. Big firms like Greenberg have agreed to send cases. And finally Politico is hiring him to cover the Supreme Court as their reporter. Lots on his plate. Gonna make 10x as much.
ReplyDeleteahahahahahahahaha
DeleteWhite House counsel’s office seems a natural fit. They gonna need a whole host of lawyers.
ReplyDeleteMy friend out in Hollywood told me he is going to host dancing with the stars.
ReplyDeleteHe’s accepted an offer to be the name for a chain of Judge Roy’s BBQ and Deli Joint. Kosher BBQ! Oh vay what a great idea. Smoked lox on a BBQ’d kinish. Matzo Ball soup with brisket in a bun with sauce! And “not your grandmother’s roast chicken” also on the menu. Gonna make a fortune.
ReplyDeleteAlex Hanna is calling for a partnership. No Pago That Federal Ticket!!!
ReplyDeleteDiddys team said to have offered ten mill as a retainer.
ReplyDeleteI read his prior work prosecuting sex traffickers is disqualifying in this admin.
ReplyDeleteIf he’s smart, and not just a brown noser, he’ll stay where he is, unless he is picked for a higher court. Can a former fed keep some dignity in this district?
DeleteMy people have infected your blog. Funny as always.
ReplyDeleteHe’s signed to fight the winner of Tyson / Paul tonight for 25 mil.
ReplyDeleteLouis Freeh gave up a District Court Judgeship in the SDNY to be the FBI Director for 8 years, and had a conflict with Clinton at the end! What did leaving do for him? Stay as a judge and do good things and hopefully you get to the 11th Circuit or Supreme Court, help protect the system!
ReplyDeleteThis conversation overlooks a really critical question: what does Judge Altman want to do? And a corollary, does he enjoy what he’s doing now? The “job security for life” crowd overlook the possibility that a district court judge might get bored with the job (that’s human nature after a while). If he gets bored, having that job for life at such a young age is more reason to leave, not a reason to stay. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that judge Altman wants to go. But the way the question is framed on the blog and in the comments overlooks the fact that he is a human, not a robot.
ReplyDeleteHe'd make a much better Senator than Little Marco!
ReplyDeletei had a case with him when he was a prosecutor. Was very impressed and told him he will on the Federal bench someday. he thought i was nuts. I recently shared with him that he will be on the USSC. What a great heart filled judge. He gets to stay on the bench!
