bonus episode of For the Defense -- John Lauro for Donald J. Trump

You may have seen John Lauro on all of the talk shows today, defending his new client Donald Trump.  He graciously agreed to appear on For The Defense with me as well.  No matter what you think of his client, I think you'll find his discussion of the issues really fascinating.  And unlike the news shows, we were able to go in depth on a variety of topics, including use of the media, defense strategy, venue, recusal, and so on. I also uploaded it to YouTube this time.  Let me know what you think. As always, you can catch this and other episodes on every podcast platform including Apple, Spotify and Google,  All other platforms can be accessed on this website

Here's the problem. We're living through the most divisive time in our country's history with the exception of the Revolution and the Civil War. Trumps's 1/6 trial has the potential to be a tipping point. And he deserves a vigorous defense. But Lauro is not a serious person or lawyer.

    1. LAURO: Absolutely, we would like a diverse venue, a diverse jury.

MAJOR GARRETT: Do you have an expectation that will be granted?

LAURO: That reflects the- the- the characteristics of the American people. It's up to the judge. I think West Virginia would be an excellent venue to try this case–

    2. Trump has increasingly lashed out at Smith and indicated a willingness to retaliate against witnesses who testify for the prosecution. “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” he posted Friday on his Truth Social account.

In remarks at a rally in South Carolina on Saturday night, Trump again verbally attacked Smith as “mentally ill” and “deranged.”

Lauro said Sunday that he would fight that proposed order.

“The press and the American people in a campaign season have a right to know what the evidence is in this case, provided that this evidence is not protected otherwise,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

    3. Referring to Trump’s now-infamous phone call in 2021 with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger where Trump appeared to threaten him with a criminal charge and asked him to “find 11,780 votes,” Lauro argued it was just an "ask" from Trump.

“There is no way I can get a fair trial with the judge ‘assigned’ to the ridiculous freedom of speech/fair elections case,” Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Everybody knows this and so does she! We will be immediately asking for recusal of this judge on very powerful grounds and likewise for venue change, out (of) D.C.”

I haven't listened yet. Did Lauro say what the "powerful grounds" are?

Naughty, naughty, Jack Caught forum shopping. Maybe D.C. Indictment gets thrown out and entire case gets sent to that mean, Trump-loving Judge Cannon and gets ripped from the heart of "We hate Trump" D.C.
I felt badly that Judge garland did not get to the Supreme Court, but in retrospect, what a break for this country. He is as crooked as Trump and not even getting paid for it.
