Most of the country will be focused on the impeachment vote today. But the Trump judge machine is still operating and another slate of district judges will be confirmed today, including our own Raag Singhal this afternoon. Judge Singhal is great, so say what you will about Trump, but we are getting a good one!
UPDATE -- looks like it will actually be tomorrow (Thursday).

Thank God. He is great; he is fair; and he is independent. He is not a government rubber stamp, and he is highly intelligent as to the laws and will make fair and informed decisions. A ray of hope.

ReplyDeleteTrump appointed an asian. Asians are more underrepresented than women on the federal bench. Whats the prob? Wont he be excellent for "diversity" and bring the much needed perspective of a wise Indian?
What does it mean to be "highly intelligent as to the laws?"

ReplyDelete5th Circuit heard argument in July about ACA. Widely anticipated to gut it. Waited until the day Trump gets impeached to distract. Unconstitutional.
But they send back to the district on some fake pretense so it's not an election issue.

Some of the criticism on here is stupid. Of course a republican is going to appoint a conservative judge. Just as a democrat would appoint a more liberal judge. That is all fair and good, so long as the person is highly qualified, independent minded, and fair to a fault. Nothing I have heard about Singhal points otherwise. So the fact that he is a federalist society member is not, by itself, an insult or disqualifying, even for someone (like me) who is left leaning. Since we lambaste Trumpists as morons, often deservedly so, we cannot ourselves act/sound like morons when dealing with issues like this. Extremist responses produce extremists on the other side. That does not help the discourse nor promote greater good... getting rid of this president and the era in which he festers. Congratulations Judge Singhal.

ReplyDeleteit snot that someone who is a member of the federalist society cannot be a good judge or that a conservative president shouldn't appoint conservative judges -- the problem is when being a member of the fs becomes a litmus test for a lifetime appointment
