Ariana Fajardo Orshan is new front runner for U.S. Attorney

Ariana Fajardo Orshan is the new front runner for U.S. Attorney, according to Marc Caputo. She is a judge in the family division, went to FIU for undergrad, and Nova for law school.  From Caputo's article:
A Miami family court judge is emerging as a new favorite to become the next U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, a post of keen interest to President Donald Trump because its jurisdiction includes his self-styled winter White House, Mar-a-Lago.

Circuit Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan in recent days has risen to the top of a crowded pack of potential nominees and has the backing of Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Rick Scott, one of Trump’s most loyal supporters. Scott appointed her to the bench in Florida’s Eleventh Circuit Court in 2012 before she was reelected without opposition in 2014.

“Governor Scott was glad to appoint Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in 2012," said Scott spokesman John Tupps in an email to POLITICO Florida. "The Governor believes that Judge Fajardo Orshan has served the families of South Florida faithfully during her time on the bench.”

Fajardo Orshan, who gave POLITICO a “no comment” when called about the buzz over her possible nomination, also has the support of Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, a fellow Miami Republican who served as the top prosecutor in the South Florida district under President George W. Bush, according to sources familiar with the nominating process. Acosta was also dean of Florida International University’s law school, where Fajardo Orshan is an adjunct professor.

Bad temper. Tries to look calm and cool on the outside but will lose her cool and becomes a yeller.

Prosecutor on the bench when she was in state criminal court. Has a "mean girl" disposition and reeks of entitlement and privilege. In other words, she's a shoo-in for the position.

I have appeared in front of Judge Fajardo on multiple occasions and regardless of the result, she was always prepared, attentive, decisive and most importantly fair.

I have known Judge Fajardo Orshan for over twenty years. I worked with her as a prosecutor for 4 years back the late 1990's, then later in civil practice. I also served with her on the Board of Directors for the League of Prosecutors for a number of years. I cannot think of a more qualified or deserving contender for the U.S. Attorney position here in the Southern District. Judge Fajardo Orshan has the experience, integrity, intellect, compassion, and temperament to excel in the post. She has proved herself to be a dedicated public servant and her appointment would be a valued addition to the Department of Justice.

I have known Judge Fajardo for 9 years and have worked closely with her on a very large number of pro bono projects since 2008. We know many of the same people in Washington DC and in Tallahassee, as well as in Miami. She is universally respected in all 3 cities. And in all 3 cities he is known - by all serious, well informed individuals - to be brilliant, highly organized, and a creative thinker. Her mind functions at Warp Speed, and she is capable of learning any new area of the law very rapidly. She is also charismatic, dynamic, charming, and, IMO, very funny. More objectively, she was a prosecutor for 6 years and served on the criminal bench for 3 years. She was selected to found and organize the new Uniform Family Court Division, even though at the time she was a relative newcomer to the Family Division. I have no inside information on what is going to happen next. But anyone who says Judge Fajardo is unqualified for this position simply does not know her.

JK: who said she wasn't qualified? No one, but ur pre-emptive last sentence makes me smile, just like I always smile when a witness starts off with 'I'm gonna tell you the truth...'

I have known Judge Fajardo-Orshan for many, many years. She is dedicated, she is smart and she is fair. I met her when she was practicing as a family lawyer where I fhad the opportunity to litigate against her and to work with her by conducting mediations for her and her clients. She is ethical, responsible and hard-working. As a jurist, she strives to do what is right and she always looks out for the needs of Florida's children and Florida's families. She has managed to create an incredible Uniform Family Court Division which demonstrates her ability to lead and her ability to make tough decisions. She is tough, there is no doubt about that. But, she combines that strength with humanity. Our Country will benefit greatly if she is given the opportunity to serve as our US Attoreny. The anonymous posts always make me wonder why so many people in our society lack courage. Ariana Fajardo Orshan does not lack courage.

Judge Fajardo-Orshan is smart, decisive and has complete command and control of her courtroom. She would make an excellent US Attorney. I have known her for many years, and she has always demonstrated an impressive work ethic, a strong moral character, and and unwavering loyalty to her friends and family.

oh my god how dare someone who didn't attend an ivy league college or law school be considered for the position of US Attorney. what an outrage. I suggest everyone who did attend and Ivy league law school or College should kneel when the district judge walks into the courtroom as a form of protest.
