Lots of local media coverage about the new case brought today against Mayors Michael Pizzi and Manuel Marono, so no need to rehash it on the blog.
But I've always wondered why there needs to be arrests in cases like this. Why not have them surrender and save the very overspent system the expense of sending the calavry to bring them in.
Of course the reason is to show the public the images/video of the arrests...
Is it worth it, readers?

ReplyDeleteIt is a chicken shit case against Pizzi. He never agreed to pay any kickbacks in exchange for the grant money. Soliciting political contributions is not a crime and that is the only thing he has done. Pizzi needs a trial lawyer.

ReplyDeleteNot sure if you consider probation law enforcement, but lets be fair, Pizzi attended law school while at probation. His father who was the US Marshal in NY was able to secure a grant for probation. The 250k allowed Pizzi to become a liaison with HIDTA, had a take home car, no case load and act like a DEA agent. He was nothing more than a used car salesman who talk a big game. "He did get the this level being stupid." Karma baby!!!!

ReplyDeleteIf the $2000 was reflected as a contribution by the PAC, yep, that's what it was. And, by the way, is 2,000 worth making a federal case out of it? I think not. Southern District of Florida ain't Iowa.
ReplyDelete@ 1:05pm: I first met Pizzi when he was at HIDTA and all he did was study and write term papers for law school. My father who was also at HIDTA claims Pizzi was bound to his desk studying from 8am to 6pm. Just another example of fleecing of the government. This conduct does not surprise me he is so arrogrant

This is pathetic. On the one hand, it was heartening to read about how many opportunities the FBI presented OTHER public officials to participate who turned it down. On the other hand, if the allegations in the Sweetwater complaint are any indication, this must happen all over the place. Rent-seeking pays off. So does buying political office, apparently.
