ReplyDeleteYou guys are crazy. This is Hanzman's seat. No doubt. You criminal defense lawyers have no idea how smart he is. Judge Scola is an awesome Judge and should be a federal judge too. Trust me on this one!

ReplyDeleteWhy is this for Huck's seat and not for Gold's seat? Didn't Gold announce that he'd retire first? What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteGold may have announced first but his senior status doesn't start until January. Huck became senior in September.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the reason why practitioners do not apply is the tediously slow process whereby any practice that you have and any firm relationship which you have deteriorate as the awesomely slow process drags along.
ReplyDeleteThe only ones that can endure this process are judges -- state judges who are not facing election within a year and mags.
As to the quality of the state judges whose names appera, theer are quite a few excellent judges among them, as the lawyesr who practicve before them regulalrly know -- judges who turn out an execllent product without two law clerks and a crowd of attendants.
Take a look - some of the best federal judges we now have came from the state bench.
Does anyone proofread anymore? I counted 6 misspelled words in 9:42's last paragraph. With this kind of lack of attention to detail, no wonder it's a painfully slow process for you.
