Its new, its big, and its a total and complete waste! crack dealers, kiddie porn cases, and the dregs of the Useless Attorneys Office who get exiled to the north. How about fixing the dump on Broward Blvd or the the mold farm on Miami Ave?
What would possess anyone to build something that big and that expensive in Fort Pierce? Wouldn't a triple wide have done the trick? There is not even a full-time mag or full-time district judge in residence. Maybe when the Fort Lauderdale judges are sitting in that shithouse of a building, they can have a slide show of what they could have if they lived where nobody else lives.
There is a full time mag in Ft Pierce, the judges who applied for District Court positions up there ended up in Miami or Ft Laud, and there is no reason why Ft Pierce's need should not be filled just because Ft Laud and WPB are not getting what they need. Miami just has to wait for yet another new courthouse
Wow, you folks really need to get out of Miami every now and then. There is a full-time magistrate, The Fort Pierce courthouse services the largest geographical sector of the District and the fastest-growing sector in terms of population. In terms of caseload, there should be vastly more court and government resources devoted to the north, but because of the amount of money spent on the Miami courthouses and US Attorney's Office, (especially since the newest Miami courthouse isn't even full), the north remains shortchanged. Now that there is a courthouse, a full-time district judge will certainly be next.
I don't understand why all the hate towards Ft. Pierce. If they want to get a new court house let it be. We all know it takes years for anything to happen in Miami either way. Who knows, maybe Miami will be getting one that's like three times the size of the one we have now in time.
