However, I would add to this that those legislators who create and shape the law, as well as those who judicial precedent, also have roles in this "defense of society." I would even go a step further and say that the general population must also take responsibility, in that we are the ones who so often place (or fail to remove) most of these people in positions of power.New York Birthdayhttp://mynycbirthday.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9615048.post-67848054217998777362011-12-01T18:58:50.194-05:002011-12-01T18:58:50.194-05:00Probably most of the blog readers did not know Nic...Probably most of the blog readers did not know Nick Marsh. He was a beloved husband, son, and civil servant who was a junior member of the prosecution team during the Stevens trial.

Just as many readers here use a healthy sense of skepticism when they hear about criminal charges of a defendant, they should use that same sense of skepticism when they hear about alleged prosecutorial misconduct.

The sample set that Conrad Black uses to draw his conclusions is based primarily on his own experience. That experience includes ordering his employees to cart out boxes of documents called for in a government subpoena and specifically directing the destruction of those documents. This portion of his conduct was never seriously rebutted at his trial, and his conviction for document destruction was never seriously contested on appeal. It is one of the reasons he sits in FCI Coleman.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9615048.post-63798256518016584432011-12-01T17:14:59.775-05:002011-12-01T17:14:59.775-05:00Dudes in prison have way too much time on their ha...Dudes in prison have way too much time on their hands . . . he should focus on working out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9615048.post-5681197876856126922011-12-01T12:46:43.291-05:002011-12-01T12:46:43.291-05:00Being a dick aside, he is right about most of what...Being a dick aside, he is right about most of what he said.

"The U.S. has 5 percent of the world’s population, 25 percent of the world’s incarcerated people, and 50 percent of the world’s lawyers, who invoice almost 10 percent of U.S. GDP (around $1.4 trillion annually)."
