She's headed to the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague, which was established in 1981 to resolve claims between the two countries.
Judge Barkett will be missed. She's been a strong, independent voice on the court for a long time.
That'll be vacancy #3 on the 11th Circuit.
Speaking of vacancies, applications were due today for the open district seat. If I can get a hold of the list of applicants, I will post it.

I'm with you, Anonymous. Seems like "prior judicial experience" is the magic key. Otherwise, opposition senators are highly likely to reflexively oppose on the basis of "lack of judicial experience." You know, like the "lack of prior judicial experience" judicial failures like Scalia, Roberts, Friendly, and Posner suffered from before getting nominated to appeals court positions.
